We've learnt that Staffordshire County Council have another Public Consultation.  This is live until the 13th January and you can feedback now.

We are not sure why the County Council are keeping this under wraps and we are acutely aware that the County Council is under some criticism for its lack on consultation on the future of Cannock Chase and the proposed car parking and charging strategy. We believe that you should have a say in the investment in the play areas at Marquis Drive and Chasewater.

Staffordshire County Council has been awarded funding to install new play areas at Cannock Chase Country Park and Chasewater Country Park in 2021, and we’d like get input from local families on what the play areas will look like.

Funds raised from car park charges at these country parks have been used to secure external funding for the play areas, awarded from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (both sites), and Lichfield District Council’s ‘Community Infrastructure Levy’ (Chasewater only).

Replies to this consultation will be used to help design the play areas for both sites.

Whether it is the design of play areas or access and investment in our green space network, nature reserves, countryside sites managed on our behalf by either the County or District Councils all aspects should be open to everyone to get involved and not just some politicians picking and choosing where they direct their challenge and support. We will continue to promote these opportunities to engage and hold all those in administration to the high standards you would expect. You have told us you want these aspects of community life as a priority and we will continue to work on your behalf.

We need the District Council also to stop with the procrastination and replace the bridges they have removed from our Nature Reserves and invest in making every play area in the District a park to be proud of. At the recent cabinet meeting they admitted that they have no intention to take any meaningful action until at least 2023. If you want a different kind of Council, if you want a Council that concentrates on the priorities of our community why not join us to be the change you want to see.
